Lots of pretty colours in this game! Fun shooter to kill time with.. A "fun while it lasts" twin stick shooter that looks like asteroids, but plays more like Super Stardust, only not as polished and not as good.Things start out promising: there's some variety, and a nice selection of upgrades between levels. The "collect salvage" levels are particularly fun, as the asteroids can quickly fill up the screen making dodging between explosions to pick up the glowy bits a blast. Unlike the other (timed) types of levels, you are at least somewhat in control of your own destiny on those. Problems start to creep in the mid-teen levels though. The upgrade system is somewhat crippled: you can't rearrange everything between levels, only upgrade some of what you have. Moreover, some upgrades like the secondary weapon are "locked in" once chosen. Unfortunately the most useful upgrade, shields, are consumable, so you are constantly re-upping those when you would rather be increasing your fire-power...and you will need to.By about level 17 or so, your guns start to feel severely underpowered. Even with a good spread shot, I could never quite get them to the point I wanted. Though you have a generous amount of extra lives, you can't change your upgrades between tries. Since the game only saves checkpoints every 10 levels, this leaves you having to play again from way...way...back when you just haven't chosen the right items. You will find yourself reaching level 18 or so and hitting a wall. Many, many tries later you might make it to the mid-20's and again, the same thing happens. You hit a wall that is just too hard to beat because you made the wrong choices earlier. All the lives in the world won't help you.So "just make the right choices" you say? No idea what those might be. A better solution would be to be able to add to your salvage (ie. currency) on replays so you can eventually upgrade. As is, perhaps there is some magical combination of upgrades that works, but I'll never find it. I'm too old to keep trying past the hours I've put into it, and there are lots of better, more balanced games out there to try instead. All in all, a game I really want to love, but one that I ultimately cannot.. Apart from the missiles blending with the background and tanky ships, it's a good game. I enjoyed playing casual, but the story mode is too difficult for me.. I've put about 16 hours into this addictive twin stick shooter and I don't think I've ever had one grip me in the same way. There are 4 kinds of level, asteroids, enemies, alien encounter and warship. Asteroid levels start off as all out destruction where your goal is to collect as much scrap as you can so you upgrade before the next level. The whole game has a really nice incline that you don't notice till you realise you've become a total ninja pilot. It's hugely satisfying to play and outside of a few rare random levels that start in really nasty ways, it's extremely fair and you really feel tied to the ship. turboing through a channel you have cut through asteroids so you don't get pancaked, you feel in control and things happen like they should, there's tons of different enemies with different types of attacks that keep things interesting and it's procedural, so you aren't playing the same arenas over and over.Great music. Cool upgrades to buy between levels and permanent checkpoints. It just does a lot of things really well and if you are remotely interested in twin stick arena shooters you can't go wrong. It is well worth the very small full price and absolute robbery on sale.. Im usualy not a big fan of dualstick shmups but this deserves some wordsChallenging gameplay, good learning curve, skills, dual stick (xbox360 work perfect) left stick steer right stick shoot switchable for left handers ,some classic gameplay like asteroids, gyruss mixed with new elements + skilltree, demands for more gametime here :)The sound is also good, Tec/Beat/EffectsGfx is good for this kind of game. First Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zum1ApjMf-EEven with a mouse and keyboard because my old RumblePad2 isn't supported in this twin stick shooter, I still had a blast!Game runs super smooth and fast. Very colorful and vibrate gameplay makes this game easy to look at and enjoy. For any fan of the old school asteroids, Super Stardust on the Playstation console, or the mega popular Geometry Wars games, this game is "Must Buy" period. 8.5 out of 10.Best feature IMO: The ability to use salvage points acquired in the gameplay to choose your own powerups and add-on perks for your ship. Making your ship the way you want is a nice feature missing from a lot of these Asteroid genre shooter games. Love it!Great jobs devs! Thanks for delivering a huge punch for the price and giving gamers their moneys worth! On Steam these days, that's saying something!- Zaxx. First solo effort from Allicorn Games (1 half of Puppygames). Does not disappoint. As a Doomday Weapon, your only goal is to travel through the galaxy destroying everything in the way. What's not to love.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvyQNkXevLcStarting in casual mode at level one at a steady pace, you alternate between either salvage collection or traveling close enough to each planets surface to deploy the Heckabomb and turn it into space dust. Between levels getting the opportunity to spend the salvage collected on upgrades which range from enhancing your base stats and gear to backup weapons, bombs and defenses. Every 10 levels you get challenged by a boss, which you can either face up to or shy away from and just survive long enough activate the Heckabomb. Killing them without using the bomb rewards you with special upgrades, so it's well worth your time. Progress through the game will also unlock new modes. Hardcore, Survival and AI Duel, which all speak for themselves really.Visuals that didn't skip a beat, extremely responsive controls, fantastic psy-trance soundtrack and a decent price point, all make this an easy recommend. If you're looking for a twin stick shooter to scratch that itch, this is most likely the game for you. :)
